Critic’s Report: Akikan!

January 30, 2010 by

This anime is awarded:

If you like the idea of a show that is entertaining, self-satirical, has ‘colorful’ characters and manages to save a little room for serious stuff, this could be the show for you. If you are really into deep, complex characters with intricate winding plot twists and you looove super serious business 24/7, this is probably not the series for you. Read the rest of this entry »

Critic’s Report: Akazukin Chacha

January 29, 2010 by

This anime is awarded:

Akazukin Cha Cha is a surprisingly smart comedy series that is laden with cultural jokes, word plays, and takes from other anime series. It’s a very cute and funny anime, with a wild gang of crazy characters that make each episode exciting. It’s a magical girl show, so I’m sure people will be put off by the fact that every episode ends with Chacha transforming and defeating the enemy. Well, that’s not what makes the show hilarious/enjoyable/entertaining … it’s what’s before! Read the rest of this entry »

The “World Masterpiece Theater” version of “Anne of Green Gables” turns the book into a comprehensive fifty-episode series, absolutely the best adaptation ever made. Critic’s Report: Aishiteruze Baby

January 22, 2010 by

This anime is awarded:I recommend this anime for everyone who wants to watch something touching. Not really a romance, its more of a slice of life anime that should be able to find itself on everybody’s list. Its an anime without grand events or drastic plot turns, its just goodness that keeps on going. Read the rest of this entry »

Critic’s Report: Air Gear

January 20, 2010 by

This anime is awarded:

Air Gear is one of those anime shows that you will either love to death or be turned away from it by its weird style. Its very….how should I put it, “open,” in a way like Tenjou Tenje is. The girls are revealing, the main character, Ikki, has no shame (as this is shown by him taking a dump in front of EVERYONE while a skating match is going on). Nevertheless, if you enjoy this kind of humor or can get by it, Air Gear shapes up to be a good introduction anime from its manga counterpart. Read the rest of this entry »

Critic’s Report: Ai yori Aoshi

January 19, 2010 by

This anime is awarded:Why do I rate this anime so highly? Why do I give a full 10/10  in nearly every category? Well, it’s simple. It’s an awesome show! In my own personal taste, in what I liked to see in an anime, this was what hit the spot. I’ll review this as I have a few others, by category then by my overall take on it. Critic’s Report: Ah! My Goddess

January 17, 2010 by

This anime is awarded:

It’s difficult to review a show that defines why you enjoy anime, especially when it’s not critically acclaimed. This said, Ah! My Goddess(also known as Oh! My Goddess), is a show that I will hold dear for quite some time. Let’s face it, the show has charm. The show, while quirky and admittedly cheesy, will forever remain one of my favorites. I immediately connected with Keiichi, but the true “ringer” was Belldandy. Never have I witnessed a female character that has drawn me in as Belldandy has. Read the rest of this entry »

Critic’s Report: After War Gundam X

January 13, 2010 by

This anime is awarded:

It’s a damn shame that After War Gundam X is the least popular of all the Gundam shows, because it really is an impressive piece of work and probably one of, if not the best spinoff. It has the realism that Wing does not, the maturity missing from SEED, and the extra kick lacking in 00. The only Gundam since the original to be cancelled, and to be honest that’s the biggest fault X has. You can’t help but wonder what could’ve been if only that episode count reached 50. Critic’s Report: AD Police

January 8, 2010 by

This anime is awarded:

AD Police is the kind of show that would really benefit from being condensed into a movie or an OVA. If you stripped out about half of the dragged out scenes and needless exposition you’d have an accidentally entertaining piece. There is no denying that AD Police is bad, the only question with these kinds of shows is “can you squeeze any kind of amusement out of it?” Or as the show itself likes to phrase it, “Just how bad can things get?” Indeed, an astute observation on the part of the creators of this show. That is the question you will find yourself asking after every installment. This show gets pretty ridiculous and there are a handful of scenes that are unintentionally funny. Critic’s Report: Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai

October 27, 2009 by

assdy

This Anime is Awarded:

3

Imagine that a pre-teen comes home from vacation to find out that his life collection of boyish and geeky paraphernalia has been lost in the ruins of the place he once called his home. Consider too while he’s dealing with that, his best friend tells him, rather nonchalantly, that she will be leaving Osaka to live in Hokkaido. To top off a rather taxing day, he witnesses an event that would cause his world and his best friend’s world to be smashed into a thousand pieces. Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai has a wonderful storyline but creates too much non-realistic appeal. It however is funny and quite enjoyable to many people. This is why Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai has received a 2/5 Star or an “Ok” rating.
